A company has already developed a prototype for a mobile casual game. The game demonstrated success, prompting the decision to proceed with its further development. However, to keep up the pace of development, a significant amount of new art was required to continually improve the game.
To create 2D and 3D art for a game that aligns with the art director’s requirements and matches the established game style.
The Experts Involved
Creating the art for the game required two 2D artists and two 3D artists. We formed a team of experienced artists led by our Art Lead, who took over the project.
Responsible for concepting, sketching, and post-production of game levels, game props, and LiveOps.
Their responsibility has been to create models and render game elements such as levels, props, and LiveOps features.
Has been responsible for overseeing the work of both 2D and 3D artists, ensuring that the results meet all requirements. Additionally, he manages the team’s workflow, providing a high level of planning and overseeing task performance to ensure timely completion.
At this step, we looked for examples and drew rough sketches of the things needed, like game levels, objects, or LiveOps elements. Once a sketch was complete, our Art Lead reviewed it, made necessary fixes, and gave approval before passing it on to the 3D artists.
At this point, 3D artists start modelling objects or scenes based on the sketches. They also prepare the scene for rendering, which involves:
Next, we handed the project over to our 2D artists to enhance the 3D renders. At this stage, they added final touches, refined details, and ensured the visual elements were polished and cohesive. We included final touches such as:
We worked closely with the client to review the artwork. If any adjustments were necessary, they requested corrections. Once the artwork was approved, we prepared the files for integration into the game.
Having received all the necessary information, we formulated a project estimate and finalized the initial workload. Month by month, our team diligently crafted captivating and visually appealing art for new game levels, special occasions, and holidays.
The scope of work included the creation of art for environments, interfaces, and 3D models of characters, all in alignment with the established game style. Since 2021 and continuing to the present, we have been actively contributing to the game product, which has already demonstrated outstanding results on the market.
